The Linkage Sensory Bus and Library is a fully- accessible converted bus offering individuals and groups across Lincolnshire access to a sensory room, and multi-sensory equipment hire, on their doorstep, at no cost.
Catering for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism, dementia and other health conditions, the Linkage Sensory Bus and Library is a fantastic mobile service which makes it easier for individuals, organisations and schools to access, enjoy and gain real benefit from sensory resources and facilities.
Every few weeks the theme of the sensory room changes. It has been a jungle, a garden, the seaside, an under the sea paradise and a market, alive with scents and textures of the market such as herbs, hessian fabrics and silk scarves. It is currently a magical winter wonderland.
It would not be possible to transform this wonderful environment so regularly without the hard work of a fantastic volunteer group who meet in every Tuesday at the Crafty Café in Lincoln to make all manner of items.
Numbers of group members vary but there are a core of 6 volunteers, including of our Linkage residents. Linkage would like to say a public THANK YOU to this group of generous people who volunteer their time, dedication and enthusiasm because without them the sensory bus would not be what it is today.
Ages of volunteers range from 30-80 years old and new people are always welcome at the group so if you are interested in getting crafty contact Niz at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0743 597 6652
If arts and crafts are not your thing, there are other ways you can volunteer for Linkage. We have a great team of volunteers who help to operate and run our charity shops. We are constantly on the lookout for new volunteers to bring their time and energy to our shops – they really do make all the difference!
If you would like to volunteer your time, experience and skills please contact Grace Cook at Grace.Cook@linkage.org.uk or call 01522 688550.
