Teams and sponsors are sought for this popular summer golf tournament in North East Lincolnshire in aid of Linkage Community Trust.
The Diable Charity Golf Day – an AM/AM Stableford competition – will be held on Friday 30th June at Cleethorpes Golf Club. This event, now in its tenth year, was the idea of Cleethorpes businessman, Tony Diable, and is coordinated and administered by the students and staff of Linkage College’s Weelsby Campus in Grimsby.
The College, part of the Linkage Community Trust, is the longest-established specialist further education provider in the country, catering for young people with learning disabilities. Mr Diable became involved after his son Jordan studied at the College before completing his studies, and moving on to attend Linkage’s Adult Skills service which helps adults develop independence and employability skills.
Mr Diable, who runs Diable Roofing, says: “The Charity Golf Day has been hugely successful over the years. I know that the golfers who take part really appreciate the efforts that the students and staff put in. The learners also love to take part and to work with the teams.”
The day will involve teams of four – any combination of men and women – competing to win team prizes. There will also be individual prizes for “nearest the pin” on the 11th hole and “longest drive” on the 1st Gents and 16th Ladies. The entry fee is £120 per team of four and includes a free half-way house and evening meal. In addition, there is the opportunity to win £10,000 on the 11th hole for any of the competitors achieving a hole in one. There will also be a selection of luxury prizes to be won.
The organisers are hoping that, as in previous years, local companies and individuals will be keen to sponsor a tee or a green. For an entry form or for details of how to sponsor a tee (£50) or green (£25), please contact Gill Curwen on 01472 372342, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
