How is our curriculum different?
At Linkage College, you’ll grow both academically and socially, while securing a pathway to further study and employment related outcomes that you’d like to pursue after graduating.
Happiness improves learning
We know that classroom based learning – like at school – is not for everyone, so we offer lots of different methods to support your education and development.
One of these is Lego®-based therapy, which turns a fun and imaginative hobby or pastime into an exciting, challenging, and structured learning experience.
By working together to build different Lego® models, students develop social skills such as communication, active listening and teamworking, alongside developing maths skills like shape and number recognition.
Many students really enjoy the experience of learning with Lego® and often reach their speaking and listening targets without even realising.

Stretch, challenge, and motivate
We take part in events, put on performance showcases and run competitions throughout the academic year as part of various courses.
These experiences are a chance to:
- meet and work with new people,
- enhance skills such as communication and time management,
- challenge yourself alongside your peers, and
- develop your confidence in areas you enjoy.
One example of this is our multi-campus skills competitions.
Students with SEND studying at Level 1 and under participate in a range of fun contests that focus on skill areas including Performing Arts, Horticulture and Hospitality.
Natspec games
Each year we attend the Natspec games, where more than 250 students with special educational needs and disabilities gather from colleges across the country, to compete in sports events.
These include boccia, goalball, javelin and five-a-side football.

At Linkage College we celebrate all achievement.
We’ll never say, ‘you can’t’, and be on hand to reinforce that ‘you can.’
All steps of progress are recognised no matter the size, from remembering somebody’s name to starting work experience, or even passing a mobility assessment.
Even if you think it’s a tiny step, you’ll be cheered on and be encouraged to be proud of how far you’ve come.
