Are you interested in the world of retail?
From independent and specialty stores to supermarkets, there’s are a wide range of diverse opportunities in retail along with many transferable skills that are useful in a variety of jobs and fields.
This course provides you with an overview of the retail sector and gives you an insight into the world of work. Each level starts with an introductory programme which steadily progresses so you have opportunities to further develop, practise and demonstrate the skills required for employment within the retail industry.
We have retail shops on-site at both the Weelsby and Toynton campuses, and at Lincoln we have a mini garden centre selling produce that Horticulture students have grown. This allows you to develop your skills through day-to-day work experience. You will be selling confectionery, drinks, clothes, plants and other items that have been handmade by Linkage Students; checking, updating and replenishing stock; and complying with health and safety procedures.
As well as carrying out practical tasks and learning skills related to retail, you’ll be acquiring valuable transferable skills such as communication and teamwork.
Maths, English and ICT are naturally embedded into your studies.
