Personal and Social Development
Our PSD course, along with the Linkage College curriculum as a whole, is designed to provide you, with an array of skills that enable you to lead a confident, healthy, responsible, safe and more independent life.
The course is structured so that it meets your individual needs and provide you with the skills to take an active and responsible role in your everyday life, your community, workplace, and educational environments.
You’ll gain knowledge and valuable skills that are transferable to many settings, including other further education, workplaces, and living independently.
You’ll experience being out and about in the community, accessing public facilities and amenities such as public transport, shops, the library, the local gym and cafés and restaurants. While using these facilities you’ll be learning and practising how to manage money, work to a budget, purchase items, use roads and public transport, and communicate with other people.
At each campus we have bespoke independence suites that we use as learning environments, you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of basic life skills such as cooking, cleaning and the general running of a home.
When we ask our students what their favourite course at Linkage College is, PSD comes up again and again.
These fun lessons are about having a safe environment to make your own choices and learn through real-life experiences. We don’t shy away from life at Linkage; we face it head on, but we promise you will never feel alone or unsafe. You will have staff and your fellow students helping you every step of the way, working together as a team to help nurture and build your potential throughout the course, because teamwork makes the dream work!
