Practical Horticulture is for anyone who is interested in the horticulture industry or who has a keen interest in working outside and learning practical skills relating to gardening.
Our campuses offer excellent facilities, including polytunnels and greenhouses. At our Lincoln Campus we have an allotment area so students can grow fresh produce, and a glasshouse which doubles up as a mini garden centre in which produce is sold by the Retail students.
In our beautiful grounds you can learn skills such as preparing soil, pruning, caring for a planted area, and maintaining grounds. These skills also promote independent living to support you in looking after your own home and garden environment.
As well as carrying out practical tasks, you will learn the theoretical knowledge essential to horticulture, including health and safety. This will help you build an impressive portfolio evidencing your new skills.
Maths, English, ICT and other core skills are naturally embedded into your studies.
