The Met Office have issued a Heat-Health Watch Level 3 for the East Midlands area. This means they expect very hot and humid temperatures across the region until Friday (26th July 2019). These are high temperatures which could have significant effects on the health of the public, and especially on the health of those who are vulnerable. As such we have upgraded our Business Continuity Alert Status to Level 3: Action. ‘Business Continuity’ is a proactive plan to avoid risks which could disrupt what we do.
Following the severe heatwave alert issued by the Met Office, Linkage staff are following official NHS Heatwave advice. Staff are being especially observant of appropriate clothing for clients, advising where appropriate. As always, we are also ensuring sun cream and caps are available, mindful that some medications can tend to make individuals susceptible to sunburn. Finally, we are encouraging individuals to drink plenty of water throughout the day and our staff will monitor fluid intake accordingly.
