Building inclusion: A new wheelchair-friendly bench at Linkage Choices, Toynton.
Earlier this year, Linkage Choices Toynton was delighted to receive a generous donation of £408.60 raised by Ulceby Spar, thanks to the incredible efforts of one of our support workers and her best friend, the store’s manager. The goal was to purchase something that would have a real, lasting impact for the people we support.
After speaking with the people we support to understand what would benefit them most, the decision was made to invest in new sensory items, games, puzzles, and most significantly, a specially designed wheelchair-accessible picnic bench. Not only does the bench provide a more inclusive outdoor seating option, but it also helps make shared spaces feel truly welcoming for everyone.
What made this project even more special is that the people we support were involved in building the bench themselves, supported by the maintenance team. Seeing their hard work and pride in the finished result has been incredibly rewarding for the Toynton Choices team.
