What Do Clients Do?

Living in the houses

In each home, clients participate fully in its running, sharing domestic and household responsibilities including shopping, budgeting, cooking, gardening and so on.

There is a constant focus on helping each person develop and use their skills to the full.

Leisure time

In their leisure time a wide and varied range of activities reflecting the interest of the clients is provided, including swimming, sports and fitness, trips to the cinema, discos, concerts, ten pin bowling, and holidays being a few examples.

For many activities, clients from the different homes link together in small groups, which provides increased opportunities to develop friendships and increased choice of activities. Table tennis competitions are particularly popular.

The emphasis throughout the leisure programmes is on helping the clients to use community-based resources though in addition activities are organised within each home.

Each household has the availability of its own minibus for trips and each year annual holidays are arranged.

During the day

During the day, service users access our Employment Services which operate throughout the East Lindsey District of Lincolnshire, Lincoln and Grimsby, offering occupational, recreational and employment training and work placements including gardening, horticulture, information technology, catering, painting and decorating, art and creative activities.

In addition the Employment Services team support work experience at the Sir Joseph Banks Centre which is a retail outlet selling craftwork in Horncastle, and a gardening and maintenance programme which all offer employment and training opportunities to many young people under the appropriate disability regulations.

The Children and Families Development Worker has been a great support to all of us
