The workshop environment allows the clients to develop practical work skills, as well as the social skills associated with working with others. A range of products are created and are available to be brought, with all profits going back into the enterprise.
In the woodworking area examples of the products include funky bird boxes, garden furniture and planters, shelving and pieces using reclaimed and re imagined timbers. The Stable Bar also is set up for the clients to use clay and moulds to create various items of pot. All pieces are fired, decorated and glazed on site. Another outlet of creativity is the distressed or shabby chic furniture. Customers can either supply the chair, table, dresser etc for the clients to work on or purchase one of the bespoke pieces in the workshop.
Along side the practical skills, areas such as literacy and numeracy, health and safety and communication are continually developed through the activities. However the biggest buzz the clients get is seeing one of their items sold, a real sense of achievement.
