Wood ‘n’ Stuff

Wood ‘n’ Stuff is a work based enterprise based at The Stable Bar, Scremby Grange and is accessed by clients through Linkage’s Adult Skills provision.

Wood ‘n’ Stuff is one of the Linkage Adult Skills enterprise opportunities. In a workshop environment clients develop practical work skills, as well as the social skills associated with working with others.

The team create a range of products including funky bird boxes, garden furniture and planters, and items made out of reclaimed timbers. These are then sold on craft stalls, at Linkage events and at Linkage charity shops.

In addition, the team also take commissions for distressed or shabby chic furniture too. Clients transform items either supplied by the customers (such as a chair, table, dresser etc.) or purchased from the workshop.

All profits go back into the enterprise, helping it to diversify and grow.

The Wood ‘n’ Stuff enterprise provides people with learning disabilities opportunities to:

  • Develop practical skills alongside areas such as literacy and numeracy, health and safety and communication.
  • Grow in confidence and self-esteem.
  • Make friends with others who share their interests.
  • Work in a supportive and caring environment.
  • Gain a sense of achievement through seeing one of their items sell.
