Ever thought of becoming a trustee?

Ever thought of becoming a trustee?

The Linkage Community Trust has an ongoing need to identify and, when necessary, to recruit to its Board of Trustees a number of high calibre individuals who will enhance its strategic direction and shape its future.

We are a Lincolnshire-based charity that leads the field in the provision of best practice further education, care and employment services for young adults with complex learning difficulties and other disabilities.

We have an unequivocal commitment to the welfare and development of our learners, residents and other service-users and our vision is to contribute to a society in which people with disabilities can realise their full potential, living as independently as their abilities and disabilities allow.

With a two campus specialist FE college, residential care and supported living/community support services and a number of centres providing vocational training and employment opportunities, we have a very secure base from which to support our service-users. We have a staff of c.800 and an annual turnover in 2009-10 approaching c.£18m.

Our Board of Trustees meets on a monthly basis to provide overall policy guidance and to monitor the performance of the staff. The Board also operates a number of sub-committees that meet on a quarterly basis. In addition, trustees are sometimes asked to attend a number of show-case, developmental events throughout the year. The required commitment to the role of Trustee is typically 15 days per year and, although unpaid, reimbursement is possible for reasonable ‘out of pocket’ expenses. Of course, the main reward is found in contributing to an organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of people with disabilities.

If you have the drive, time and passion to commit to the growth of this high profile organisation, we would be delighted to hear from you. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with varied life experiences and from commercially minded individuals who take a common sense approach to strategic thinking. An understanding of governance is preferable, although further training and development is provided by the Trust.

Additional information on what the Trust does can be found in other parts of this website.  For a briefing pack, including details of our short-listing criteria, please contact Pat Lill on 01754 892009 or by email at pat.lill@linkage.org.uk. For an informal discussion about the role of trustee, please telephone either Bob Price, Linkage’s Chief Executive, or Lyn Wakefield, the Chairman, both of whom can be reached on 01754 892009.

Formal application is by CV and covering letter and should be addressed to Lyn Wakefield, either by email to chairman@linkage.org.uk or by post, clearly marked on the envelope ‘Chairman Only’, to Linkage Community Trust, Scremby Grange, Spilsby, Lincolnshire PE23 5RW.
