Help shape support that enables people to live fulfilling lives.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) practitioner to provide practice leadership and strengthen the quality of support across Linkage’s care and education services.

Working under the direction of the Head of Specialist Support, you will combine direct assessment and support with mentoring, coaching and quality oversight. You will help staff understand people’s needs, develop their skills and create environments that promote choice, independence, participation and quality of life.

About the role:

As part of our Specialist Support Team, you will work alongside PBS Partners, Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, operational and education teams, families and external professionals to embed consistent, person-centred approaches.

A key initial focus will be supporting the development of complex needs provision at the Stables. You will help identify and establish the staff skills, environments and support arrangements people need, using learning from this work to inform developments across Linkage.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking functional behaviour assessments and developing, implementing and reviewing practical PBS plans within agreed competence and supervision arrangements.
  • Providing professional practice leadership and mentoring to PBS Partners.
  • Reviewing the quality of PBS assessments, plans and their implementation, providing constructive feedback and following up improvements.
  • Building staff and manager capability through training, modelling, coaching and reflective practice.
  • Embedding Capable Environments, Active Support, co-production and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Supporting admissions and transitions, helping teams prepare to meet each person’s assessed needs.
  • Supporting the reduction of restrictive practices through audits, review and improvement planning.
  • Using assessment, incident, engagement and outcome information to evaluate support and improve practice.

About You

You will hold a Level 5 Diploma in PBS, behaviour analysis or an equivalent relevant qualification, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and relevant higher-level study.

You will bring experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, including people who communicate distress through their behaviour. You will have experience of functional assessment, person-centred PBS planning, practice leadership and delivering training that translates into everyday support.

Approachable and collaborative, you will be confident coaching others, providing constructive feedback and challenging practice respectfully. You will understand the importance of communication, health, sensory needs and the environment in shaping effective support.

Experience of developing complex needs provision, reviewing other practitioners’ work, undertaking practice audits or delivering Team Teach training would be an advantage.

You must be able to travel between services and work flexibly to meet agreed service needs.

Why join Linkage?

This is an opportunity to influence practice across care and education, support the development of complex needs provision and help teams achieve meaningful outcomes with the people they support.

You will join a multidisciplinary Specialist Support Team, working in line with Linkage’s values of Independence, Respect, Honesty and Teamwork.
