 where the PEOPLE shine through

POT LUCK

Pot Luck Ceramic Studio in Cleethorpes is a exciting new social enterprise which caters for all ages and abilities from birthday parties with a difference through to people who are looking to create their own original designs. Located at Meridian Point on the Cleethorpes sea front, Pot Luck provides the opportunity to get away from it all; to unwind and relax whilst creating your very own masterpiece.

In addition to being a great place to be, Pot Luck also provides employment and training for people with learning disabilities. The facility is open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm (weekend opening during summer and winter holidays) and also sells a range of quality gifts produced by people with learning disabilities. Pot Luck can take commissions for and provide one off pieces to mark a special occasion such as weddings, christenings and anniversaries and provide group sessions for clubs and societies.

So many people convince themselves that they are no good at art. Pot Luck provides the opportunity to release the artist inside of you” said Zoe Bowden, Project Manager at Pot Luck. “We will give help and guidance when asked, but the most important thing is to be yourself and just go for it. Art should be fun and Pot Luck aims to keep it that way.”

Why is Pot Luck a social enterprise?

Pot Luck is a business like any other business but instead of giving profits to shareholders etc, we use the money to create real and sustainable employment and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities. Social enterprises can create employment where no employment exists and provide people with the first step into getting a paid job.

How was Pot Luck started?

Pot Luck is part of the Linkage Enterprise the trading arm of Linkage Community Trust and has received tremendous encouragement and support from organisations such as Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire and the Community Economic Regeneration Team. Thanks to funding support from the Neighbourhood Renewal Think Lincs project we were able to prepare a comprehensive business plan to ensure we had all the right things in place to start the new venture. Linkage Enterprise produces a range of pottery from its premises in Grimsby and in Mablethorpe and won the best stand award at the prestigious Footsey 100 Exhibition in York in 2007. The new premises in Cleethorpes provide both showcase for local talent and a new and exciting tourist attraction.
