If decided that we should not proceed with the application; you (Parents, Connexions, Social Services) are informed.

You are invited to visit the campus to ascertain  whether you feel the college is suitable.

At the end of the tour, you are asked whether you would like to proceed with an application.

If you would like to proceed, applications forms are sent to you and your name is entered on our waiting list. If you feel the college is inappropriate no further action is taken.

Upon return of the application forms they are viewed by Linkage Transition Team. If prospective student is deemed suitable a 3 or 5 day assessment  is arranged - dependent on the needs of the applicant and whether involvement from the members of the Clinical Team is required.

Management Team decide placement is inappropriate; you (Parents, Connexions Social Services) are informed.

Student begins his/her programme at Linkage College.

YES

It is decided that we can go ahead with application to the next stage; the assessment.  

NO

If it is decided that candidate is not suitable; you (Parents, Connexions, Social Services) are advised at this point.

YES

Management Team offer a place to the applicant subject to LSC (Learning Skills Council) funding.

You (student and family) are sent an induction pack and time and date to start the programme at Linkage College.

You (student and family) are also invited to attend Transition Open days, to ease Transition into College.

Following consultation, it is decided that the application can proceed to the next stage; the visit. 

Applicant attends assessment. Following the assessment Linkage Transitions Team prepare a report, for the Management Team to decide if a placement is appropriate or to seek further clarification.

It may be decided that we need to obtain further information and/or make a visit to the school, to meet the young person and speak with staff, before we proceed with application.

 

 

Funding is secured at an LSC panel.

 What courses are available?

Linkage College is able to meet the various needs of a wide range of individuals with learning difficulties and other disabilities. Students are generally aged between 16-23 and come from all parts of the UK. Overseas students are also welcome to apply.

Students are usually funded by the Learning Skills Council, however some students are privately or local authority funded.
